The North American counter-terrorism force Team America attacks a group of terrorists in Paris. Later, the leader of the organization, Spottswoode, invites the famous Broadway actor Gary Johnston to join his world police and work undercover in Cairo, infiltrating a terrorist organization in the hope they will disclose their plan of destroying the world. Team America destroy the cell of terrorists, but then the Panama Canal is attacked by the criminalsa payback. Gary feels responsible for the death of many innocents and leaves the counter-terrorism organization. When the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Il, joins a group of pacifist actors and actresses with the intention of using weapons of massive destruction, Team America tries to avoid the destruction of the world.
Well when the Eiffel Tower fell over due to a hit from a Team America RPG then I knew that, though I never got into South Park, these writers meant business! Representing the US military is 'Team America' a team of vigilantes that, with the help of a not-so reliable computer called I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E works to save the world International Rescue-style from their secret base inside Mount Rushmore.<br/><br/>Representing the perfect worldists(or pussies,this film calls them) are the Hollywood Film Actors Guild, headed up by Alec Baldwin, a group that want to be players on the global stage so badly they unwittingly ally themselves with the bad guys or 'assholes' And representing the 'assholes' are a mix of terrorists and Kim Jong Il, north Korean dictator who is supposedly their mastermind.<br/><br/>Representing non-ideological Joe Average in this mixer is actor Gary Johnston – whose skills Team America need to help kick terrorist butt.<br/><br/>Having Michael Moorea suicide bomber was slightly warped but these guys get away with it.<br/><br/>Overall, the moral of this story is that the world is made up of dicks, pussies and assholes. Some humourless left wingers may rewrite the definitions of these terms in their heads to suit their ideology but then again your average humourless left winger has it's head up it's arse.<br/><br/>And of course don't forget that if you want to be a player in this game, you've got to suck someone's cock at some point.<br/><br/>With surplus ammo getting thrown at the film industry and puppetry in general, no one can expect any mercy in this film. Fine by me! P.S To that guy that was asking where the friendly fire was, what do you think the team firing missiles at the jeep Gary was in was all about?
Err, anyone taking their children to this film should have those<br/><br/>children forcibly remanded to the state. It's an **R** RATED FILM for<br/><br/>xsake! <br/><br/>Anyway, This film is an instant classic, worth at least 5/10 for the<br/><br/>technique alone, and for me it goes another 4/10 up because of its<br/><br/>spot-on tone slamming pomposity where it finds it. There are dragging<br/><br/>moments though, which may be inevitable, and IMHO 'Everyone has AIDS'<br/><br/>was too repetitive, so it only gets a 9/10 from me. <br/><br/>Still, I am _SO_ all over the DVD when it comes out.
Egregiously vulgar satire on terrorism, global politics and Hollywood action movies gets an immeasurable boost from its wonderfully designed, old-school string puppets.
Basically the only difference is the sex scene between Gary and Lisa. To obtain an R-Rating the infamous puppet sex scene was done in an over the top fashion and then defused to a slightly less offensive version. The Unrated version features the original sequence and runs approx. 40 seconds longer than the theatrical version.
